Oh, the steaks! We indulged in some aged USDA prime steaks nearby that were pure magic! The location is a gem close to delicious spots like Mediterraneo and Hai Sushi. We also appreciated the quiet atmosphere and decent value for money .
But, oh boy, we did find a drinking glass from the previous occupant in our room, which wasn't exactly a warm welcome. And if you're hoping to whip up a meal, be warned, cooking equipment requires a stay of longer than 14 days, or an extra fee, and we were rather gently informed of that by the staff.

Would be happy to recommend for a short staycation
Comfortable room, good breakfast, with a great position close to two bus stops that provide easy access to the historical town.
Everything was just right.

Spacious room. The breakfast spread was a highlight! On the downside, the bathroom heating didn't work. A decent experience though!

The rooms are big. The location is good if you have a car. The free parking. The breakfast is good.
The facilities in the rooms are quite old. The internet cost E6 per day without justification. The free internet in the lobby is only if you want to use the hotel's one computer. The plan of the hotel is very complicate and the corridors are very long.

Great breakfast. Probably the most extensive breakfast offerings in the three weeks of travel. We arrived before check-in time, the staff was helpful and checked our bags for us so we could go sightseeing. Spoke English. Parking was easy. Free internet in lobby; pay extra if you want to use it in your room. Up on a hill, so has a good view of the city. Easy driving distance from the Old Town; walking distance for those of us who like lots of walking. Very close (25 km) to Frankfurt Airport.

The Contel Hotel Mainz was very nice, clean, and the staff was friendly and were very fluent in the English language. The breakfast buffet was also excellent.
The hotel wasn't easy to get to. We arrived at night on the train and had a very hard time finding out how to get there. It was not close to a bus stop so we had to walk up a steep hill pulling our bags. They need to provide a shuttle.

Good free parking, decent breakfast, price/benefit
The double room does not appear to be as large as 30 m2. A bit far from the center, though reasonably accessible within 15 min walking.

I like the view from the dining room where we had breakfast. A very comfortable hotel to stay. The breakfast was very good.
it was a bit difficult to find or even get to if you carry a suitcase. Taking a taxi would be a sensible choice.
